If you want to learn the best way to be come one with your horse, then you go to the best to be taught. I have only been riding about a year and having watched Chris on the RFD channel, I knew he was the one I wanted to train me & my horse. I have a 5 year old, blood bay gelding. He was trained as a two year old for cutting, but I'm just trying to learn to ride. Gallo is very smart, smarter than his owner, but he will help me to become a better rider. I can not say enough good things abouth Chris Cox, his clinics and his employees. Now I will tell you that you better be in good physicial condition (so exercise way before you go--walk alot) and you better be tough skin, after all you did not go there to tell him what you know, you went so you could learn what he knows! I will not go to anyother clinicianer other than Chris. His wife Barbara is also a great asset to his crew that works with you----Barb you are Great! One of Chris's main objective is to teach you safety and how to control your horse, these are very valuable lessons. Learn them! I encourage eveyone to go to this clinic especially if you are just starting to ride before you develop bad habits--bad habits are very hard to break, but they can be changed!
Don't give up!

Your right about Chris. I went to his building riders confidence course in May this year becase I was afraid to canter after an accident and I wish I would have done his coarse years ago. I now am ready do to Horsemanship 1. You walk away with so much knowledge a lot more than people would ever realize. Oh and the being in shape LOL if your now you will be. So glad to hear about your story, you will enjoy Horsemanship 1, especially since you know the ropes. I have thought about taking the riders confidence course & after reading your story I just might do so if my canterring does not get better. Unforunatly I am have compressed disc problems in my neck & have not been able to work with my horse since I returned from the school. I had this problem before I went, but it was my dream to go to Chris's clinic & nothing was stopping this old grandma. Now I just have to pay the piper so I can get back in the saddle again. Please stay in touch & share your experiences with me. We had such a wonderful group at our school that we are all staying connected. I just have to let them know about this site. I'm also doing Tai Chi for equestrians for exercise, I want to be ready for the next session LOL! Do you find this valuable?

ya my class is keeping in touch also, most of us are on facebook have not see any on here though. I guess I'll have to let them know also. Before I ent my horse would not canter for me. I thought she was just protecting me because really wasn't ready. Then there she was like a wild women. All she wanted to do was canter and fast and it scared me that I had my melt down day. But Stormy got on her and rode her around till she finally slowed down then I got on. It felt wonderful. Of couse when I get home she was backto her old stuff not wanting to canter but because I learned so much there I got more demanding and then she wanted to buck. We are working thru it though. I'm muc more confident cantering now in an arena. How many were in your course? There were 18 in mine. Keep in touch. Do you find this valuable?

There were 13 in our class. There were people from California, Tennesse, Florida, Michigan & this good old Texas gal! I am sorry to hear about your horse bucking, but so glad to hear you are working through this. My horse, Gallo, is out of a Rooster horse & Rob told me that the Rooster horse are a little lazy & he is right. So Mr. Gallo doesn't really like to go fast, which is okay with me, but Chris made me fly on him. I was like you I got a little scared, but it was because I had never really had him up to speed. He is a trained cutting horse, but I'm not trained at all. I just wanted a nice easy trail riding horse, but my wonderful husband thought I need something more. I think he thinks I'm going to be this wonderful cutting women, but I think the years are not in my favor. I am on facebook too, but really don't know much about how to work it. My daughter got me on there so sometimes I check it out. If you want to look me up it is Kay Hays, sassiehays@yahoo.com. Will keep in touch, maybe more people will check this site out. I really do want to put the good word out on Chris & his wonderful staff. Do you find this valuable?

Hi Kay, What a woderful group of people we had at Horsemanship I . It was truly an eyeopener. After the second day I was so over whelmed I couldn't keep from crying. I call it the "reality check" .It sure hit home then. Got to have some tough skin and keep your mind open to new ideas. I really recomend this to anyone who wishes to help themselves and their horse. Glad to have met your husband Bob and John & Lica were supper nice people also. This was truly a one of a kind experience. I'm not sure how many other clinic groups put all their benchs and pulled all the tables together like we did. But all I can say is that it sure was a great group of people. Looking forward to horsemanship II. Keep up the riding Kay. How is your hand and shoulder? Hope you are on the mend. As always, Nancy ( The Bear Hunter) Do you find this valuable?

Hey Bear Hunter,
I tried to call you last night, but I must have your numbers wrong, so email them to me at my email address, okay. So great to hear from you & I really miss you! As it turns out my hand & shoulder are coming from my neck problems, so I am back on the shots & hopefully before long I will be able to ride. I just hope I have not forgot what we learned, I keep reading Chris's books & watching his videos so I don't forget. I just wish you were all here at the ranch & we could practice together. For those of you that are reading this, you just can't imagine how close our group became, it was like we were long time friends from the beginning & the good byes were just way to hard. It's just amazing what one does learn at Chris's clinic, not just about horses, but about ones self & the friends you make. Nancy is just one of the many wonderful women I had the pleasure of meeting & she is very talented! Love ya girl---look forward to keeping up with you. Have you been able to try everything on your horse yet?

Don't know where everyone is? Ercia is going to have some type of surgery (foot) I think, so it will be a while before she gets here. I finally rode Gallo yesterday for the first time since we got home & today I am sore! I really did not ride long, but just felt so good to get back on him. I am so sorry you are having such bad weather. We have been having rain, but after the long hot summer we are thankful for every little drop. Need to call & check on Kaaron & see how she is coming along with her knee surgery. She was doing well the last time I talk to her. Missing you all alot, in fact when I was at the arena riding yesterday I could just picture all of us being in the arena at Chris. Talk to you soon! Kay Do you find this valuable?

Wasn't that wonderful of Petra to do those pictures. No, I have not tried to print them or change their size only because I have not had enough time to do everything I need to do. If I figure it out I will let you know. I do have to post a new picture of me when I get around to taking it----I cut all my hair off! No more Feeie-Feeie! Love ya girl! Have a good week.
