I found a solution to my old guy not drinking enough in the winter....Tried all the "normal" stuff and he wouldn't have anything to do with additives put in his water so....I take a scoop of his senior feed , that he loves, and put it in a bucket of water and wonders of all wonders, he's learned if he sucks all the water off he then has a scoop of mash...yummy.

That time of year again...teeth floating. My old guy came with some dental issues that I'm constantly working with but my mare who I've had from birth and whos teeth I brush and floss..yes you heard me right... is the one who has to have some fillings. She has no cavities (and pretty white teeth) but seems she has indentations that get packed with food and flushing doesn't get the food out. If we don't take care of it we WILL have problems soooo, a specialist will be fixing her teeth in a couple of weeks. Any one ever heard of this?

Hello to all....I can remember back 23 years ago when all the fellow horse folks thought "natural horsemenship" was crazy! I will never forget a buckskin paint mare that belonged to a gal at the barn I boarded at she had taking this mare to so many trainers, and all the trainers had said there is not point the horse is not trainable. Then this guy came and picked up this mare. I thought I would never see her again, everyone at the barn told the women she was crazy that this "natural horsemen" would not be able to train this horse! Well.....30 days later the mare returned, I was amazed as everyone else was! I loved it, the horse only needed someone to talk to it in its language...be patient and understanding....well of course the "natural horsemen" trainer Dave Williams bought the horse.....that mare was amazing! She was a SUPER STAR in my eyes!!! Ray Hunt became my hero!! Forever my life was changed!!! My eyes were wide OPEN TO A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!! I have been blessed to be raised with these creatures of God and even more blessed to have spent the last 23 years learning their language and having them teach me! Horses are my life, my love and they way I breath! So, I am so Happy that their are so many horse folks following these methods!!! Amen! I just pray for all the neglected horses....those are the ones I try to help when I can. God has blessed me with a fabolous gelding that Chris would be proud to have on his place, he has a ROYAL pedigree!!! I have had him since day one....and I love to go trail riding with people and take his bridle off and then I take off running threw the woods. Everyone says you will never be able to stop him. I just laugh....well see!!! Then when I stop on a dime, there jaws drop! I laugh and say give it try "Natural Horsemenship"

Does anyone know if Chris and Barb have welcomed the newest memeber of their family into the world yet? I am so happy for them. I believe it is due in December so it will surely be a blessed Christmas for the Cox family.
Thanks, JoAnne |

The last time my horses were trimmed the shoer noticed my older geldings feet had several bruises and I was appalled as I am so anal about feet. They are on Hoof Power and I pick and apply rainmaker every day. She said 90% of the time it's food related so we assessed the pasture and came to the conclusion that the pasture was a bit to rich for him and being older he isn't able to process the sugar etc. as easily as he use to. That and the fact that I irrigate and his feet were not getting a chance to dry out completely could be the problem. I put him in a pasture that we do not irrigate ( it is a bit of a hill so when it rains the water runs off) , started feeding him grass hay and he still gets his senior pellets and supplements in the a.m.. In 4 days the change in his hoofs was nothing short of a miracle. I am so pleased and I wanted to share as we all know what a horse without good feet is. I also started putting my mare in with him at night as she could stand to loose a little weight and in a week she looks better too. I'm sad he doesn't get to be out on the green acreage but he has a nice big pasture with just enough green to let him pick all day and I know it's better for him for now . Live and learn!

Driving home today I saw three accidents and the roads weren't that bad. Kind of want to be on my horse in the middle of nowhere with the snow falling and just enjoying the peace. Maybe evreryone should commute on horseback.

Hey everyone... I am experiencing a personal crisis that is, to say the least, quite embarrassing. I'm being threatend and extorted by my business partner and I'm looking for donations for a legal fund so that I can pursue the lawsuit. Regrettably, since my sinister partner's principle assets are horses, I can't find anyone willing to take this case on a contigency basis. I've been assured by all who have looked at the facts that it's a very good case, but nobody wants breeding stallions or brood mares for their fee (go figure). If anyone is willing to help me deal with Satan's Spawn, please send me a private note and I'll give you some more info. Upon successful completion of the lawsuit, the attorney's fees will be awarded, and anyone who helps with the fund will be repaid.
Thanks to all, Michael |

Did anyone else get to see Chris on RFD at the PBR Finals in Las Vegas? That was cool. I'm glad to see they put a horseman on the show there at the PBR. Wish I could have been there in person! The interviews they did showed that alot of people were not familiar with Chris Cox- Way to Go Chris.

I am working with a man here in Tennessee that has 30-40 horses needing a home. These Quarter Horses are out of the Doc Bar and Hollywood bloodlines and some are registered. Some are rideable others not. This man is very sick and was paying people to feed for him. They didn't feed all of the horses and those that went without are in very poor condition. My friend and I hae taken over the feeding and care but need help. The owner has agreed to let us adopt out these horses for a nominal fee. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.

I have had our pony for about a month and she won't let us catch her unless we have food. She was approachable at the place we got her from but once we got her home, she turns away when we walk up to her. I think she may have been abused at some point b/c she flinches and raises her head when pet. She's in a pasture with our gelding and even though he comes to us, she won't. Once we do catch her, usually with grain, she'll behave nicely. We've ridden her on a trail ride once and she did quite well. Once she's turned out, she's like a wild horse and won't let us get close. Any suggestions?

Had a bad fall from my horse two weeks ago. Fractured and dislocated C4/C5. Surgery was successful with no loss of function. Dr say not to ride again - don't thing that's going to happen. Any success stories of comebacks from injuries of this type and suggestions for protective riding gear would be very appreciated. Thanks

I haven't posted on here in awhile, so here is a mini update on Brody, my wonderful paint gelding..He's coming along nice-started him on the basics of lunging at the walk-halter, leadrope & dressage whip to keep him on the outside & not run me over.
Just today I introduced the Santa Hat to him (I do x-mas cards with that) & after the initial "it's going to eat me", he calmed down and decided it was safe. I brought bells out too & he was calm & cool. So far, it seems to be going good. I'm still having a blast out there & get lots of tips. But his attitude is great and he's very willing. With all the ground work we are doing, I hope this carries over into our riding in a couple of years.

My wife has what is best described as a Heinz 57 horse. He looks QH, but also has a lot of Fjord horse attributes. He's 15 to 15-1 6 Y.O. fairly short backed, no withers at all and pretty stocky (ahem!). Wondering if anyone can recommend flat backed saddles. I'd like to stay away from the "fits all horses" type of saddle and I prefer to spend less than $1500. I have contacted a local saddle-fitter for an appointment. She is very knowledgeable, but she also encourages truly custom saddles and I think the price will be not affordable. BTW, a FQB saddle rolls right off his back even if I cinch the daylights out of it.
Thanks, Chris

After a friendly reminder of the ethics involved in recording someone's else's video or songs, I am withdrawing my original message/request.
(I would like to add that not all of his shows are available for purchase - the one I was looking for is not. I have looked.)
